Matthew McCleary CLU®, RICP®

Matthew jokes about beginning his career in the financial services industry at the age of one when his father, Dan McCleary, purchased his first whole life insurance policy on him with The Guardian. Since then, his dad and uncle have instilled the values of putting others first and leaving a legacy through the insurance and investment world. Matthew is proud to continue the legacy of 110 years of his family being in the financial services industry in Houston.

Matthew has been in the industry for 10 years after attaining his Group 1 insurance license as a senior at Texas A&M and joining Guardian as a broker in 2010. Within his first two years, he completed The Guardian Leadership Institute and was the recipient of the NAIFA Rising Star Award. In 2017, Matthew completed his Chartered Life Underwriter designation and followed this with the completion of the Retirement Income Certified Professional designation in 2019. Matthew has focused primarily on working with business owners to set up group benefits, young entrepreneurs and retiring financial advisors. He has led The Guardian in the state of Texas from 2017-2019 for the number of lives/families helped.

Matthew graduated with a degree in Finance from Texas A&M and has been married to his college sweetheart, Karla, for 7 years. They have a very cute and energetic 2-year-old boy named Aiden (who also received a life insurance policy at the age of 1). Matthew is an active member at Houston’s First Baptist Church, has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys golfing, skiing and any adventurous activity you can throw his way. In his free time, he enjoys traveling the world with his family and friend
